Name : Chan, Henry Douglas Min-Hsi, 1937-2008 Major Links : Go to Records Biography : Historian. Born in China, Guangzhou province. Came to New Zealand at the age of 3. After graduating from the University of Canterbury he taught history at Colenso High School in Napier and at Massey University, before going overseas for post-graduate studies. His academic career was spent in Australia teaching history at the University of Newcastle, where he worked until retirement. In 2004 he was awarded the research fellowship at the National Library of New Zealand, where he studied Chinese immigration to New Zealand.
