The first interment of a Chinaman at the Karori Cemetery took place, says the Wellington Post, on Sunday. The name of the deceased was Long Way, a singularly appropriate cognomen under the circumstances. He was a market gardener, residing at Newtown, and was married in China, where his widow and several children reside. The funeral was largely attended by compatriots of tho deceased, who were conveyed in cabs to the cemetery, where " refreshments of a light description " were served to all who were desirous of partaking of them* A quantity of freshly cooked food, and a modicum of Chinese spirits, were also left upon the grave, When a suitable opportunity occurs, Long Way's bones will be sent to the land of his forefathers.
