It may not be generally known that the Chinese of this colony have a society for the ' purpose of arranging; and paying for the shipment of their dead countrymen to their native land. Every Chinaman has lo make annual contributions, ranging- from 5s to 50 pound according to his financial position. It is stated that the funds of the society now amount to over £8000.
