Illegal Possession of Opium The Crown v. Coolies 288G and 1261. Coolie No. 2880, nanv d Chan Way, employed hy C. J. Goebel, of Aleisa, was charged with having opium illegally in his possession. Accused pleaded guilty, and was fined £0 and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. Coolie No. 1201, named Lem Sin?, employed by W. J. Swann, was similarly charged. The alleged "liquid coffee" solution w:.s shown by an analysis made at the Government Hospital to be pure opium. The Government Analyst agreed with the Crown Piosecuto;' that the opium had been prepared by someone who knew how to make it suitable ior smoking. A fine of £7 10s was imposed, the accused to pay th n co>ts of the prosecution.
