CHINESE DIES. INJURED IN MOTOR ACCIDENT. The Chinese market gardener, Wong Oy, of Neilson Street, Te Papapa, who was seriously injured when a taxi collided with his cart midway between Alva Road and Queen Mary Avenue, Manukau Road, ten days ago, died in the Auckland Hospital early this moming. CHINESE INJURED.
CART STRUCK BY TAXI. MANUKAU ROAD SMASH. Fruit and vegetables were, scattered across the full width of Manukau Road as tlie result of a collision between a taxi and a Chinese market gardener's cart, which occurred at six o'clock this morning. The Chinese, Wong Oy, of Neilson Street, Te Papapa, was thrown to (lie roadway and was taken to the hospital suffering from slight concussion and back injuries. The collision occurred midway between Alva Road and Queen Mary Avenue. Botli vehicles were travelling in the direction of Newmarket, and the ear struck the cart in the rear. Both cart and car were extensively damaged, the car, driven by Mr. Harry Mephan, of Exeter Street, Mount Eden, having its radiator wrecked and its bonnet badly crumpled. Damage to the cart included a broken shaft, which allowed the horse to bolt. The animal was uninjured and was recaptured without difficulty. There was a passenger in the taxi at the time of the accident, but neither lie nor the driver was cut by the Hying glass.
