BRUTAL ASSAULT ON A CHINAMAN.
CnRISTCHUROH, April 2G. A brutal assault was committed on a Chinaman to-day. His name was Lee Chong, nnd he is the proprietor of a laundry. Shortly before 10.30 two men entered his shop at the front door. Lee Chong came to ascertain their requirement, when one of the men struck him a heavy blow on the head with a blunt instrument. Chong, who was alone in the shop, was knooked senseless, and his assailants then ranßaoked the promisee, and Btole £23 in money and got away uninterrupted. Chong obtained assistance on recovering, and the police nnd a doctor went sent for.
