It's a wrap for Hobart Takeaways Ivan and Alice Wong have been cooking takeaways in Wellington for nearly 45 years. They started their business in Newtown in 1977, and are now selling the Miramar fish and chip shop where they’ve worked 14 hours a day, seven days a week almost constantly since 1983. “I need a rest. I don’t like to work for too long now,” Alice Wong said. A classic Kiwi takeaway, Hobart Takeaways is known for its hand cut chips, generous portions and Alice and Ivan’s welcoming knowledge of decades worth of regular visitors. We’ll miss our customers, some have been coming to us every week for 38 years. We just want to say thank you,” Wong said.
