Margaret Kiriona Fon-Lowe
FON-LOWE, Margaret Kiriona
Passed away suddenly but peacefully in the presence of her family on Sunday, March 25, 2007; at the age of 77. Born in Pihama, Taranaki, on May 14, 1929, Margaret spent many years in Palmerston North, Glenbrook and finally in Papakura. She is the granddaughter of Alfred (Arawhena) Graham, a descendent of the Graham of Montrose clan and the daughter of Rangitooto Waerata Williams, whose heritage is traced back to the waka Tainui. Margaret was a longtime stallholder at the Panmure, Otara and Manurewa markets and in her typical style was working up until the day before her passing, sharing her humour and wit with her customers, new and old. Known for her nononsense attitude, she was a woman of strong character, values and principles, and woe be unto those who didn¡¯t toe the line. She was loved and respected by all she knew for her generosity and selflessness. Quintessentially a true friend, she was always willing to lend a helping hand, advice and counsel to anyone who sought her assistance. Beloved wife of the late Lui Fong Hung and adored Mother, Por- Por and Ama of Sylvia, Murray, Geneva and Shannon Sportsman (and Jada, Izabella and Maya), (Los Angeles); Lynette Fon- Lowe and Chanel; Christine Fon- Lowe and Christopher; David- Rewi, Tiffany and Christiaan (Brisbane); Arohanui, Mike and Taranaki Bender (Cincinnati); Rosemary, Joe, Taylor-Paige and Dylan Stewart (Los Angeles); Trevor, Sue, Jarryd and Reuben (Brisbane); Sherie- Khan Fon-Lowe (deceased); Caroline-Kiriona, Perry and Joshua-Kiriona Keenan (Chicago); Leighton, Kylie and Campbell. So Mum, you¡¯re on another journey. We will always be thinking of you, especially when the races are being called, the mahjongs are stacking and the trailer leaves for the market. Travel safe with Ihoa¡¯s blessing and arohanui always. Viewing and visitation will be held at the family home in Karaka. Services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2007 at 11:00am at the Manukau Memorial Gardens Crematorium Chapel to be followed by private cremation. No flowers by request.
