Chinese in Samoa. Some questions about the repatriation of Chinese labourers from Samoa were asked in the House of Representatives by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr H. E. Holland) who said he would like to know how quickly it was intended' to reduce the number of Chinese, and whether the intention was to re-employ any of those whose terms expired. He understood that if a man kept on making new contracts with his employer he was not compelled to leave. The Minister of External Affairs (the Hon. W. Nosworthy): No, at the end of three years he must go, Mr Holland went on to ask what was done with the wives and children of those Chinese who had-married Samoans according to the native custom. Formerly the Chinese Government had refused to let these people land in China, and he was not sure whether the Chinese in Samoa.
