Friday, 25 April 2014 To Irene's family, especially Carolyn, Christine, Christopher and Calvin. Paul and I were so sorry for you all losing a much loved mother. Although we had only met Irene since 2009 through Christine and Sandy, we had come to really treasure her and be very glad she included us in her life. My mother, Isobel Simpson, was very fond of her, and would have liked to see her more often. But Mum's health prevented this. Irene came to Mum's funeral in 2011, and that was so kind. She had written to Mum, always remembered cards for Christmas and other occasions, written beautifully. Mum admired Irene's handwriting as her own was so poor. She always seemed to ask to be remembered to Mum and Mum asked after her. She was always thoughtful and gentle, quiet and unassuming. Paul and I were glad to see her in March but sorry to see her so ill. We wish we had had known more of her, that she had had a chance to meet her little grand daughter. We treasure the little time we did know her through Christine and send all our love for you all in the coming days. Paul Satherley and Jenny Simpson Wellington Wednesday, 23 April 2014 CHONG, Irene. 19 April 2014 at Auckland Hospital. Dear respected and courageous friend of Anita Hunnisett. May the Good Lord Bless Thee and keep Thee. You will never be forgotten.
