CHINESE RESIDENTS
(By Telegraph. Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Chinese residents of Taranaki are taking steps to boycott Japanese goods and give financial assistance to their Government. The bitter feeling towards anything Japanese was illustrated by the action of a New Plymouth laundry man who returned to a customer a bundle of Japanese collars, refusing to handle them. It is intended to form a Chinese Association in Taranaki, but in the meantime activities are being conducted through the New Zealand Association. All they can afford in donations has already been sent. The boycott has already affected Japanese onions, mandarins and other fruit and vegetables. j Auckland Star, Volume LXVIII, Issue 241, 11 October 1937, Page 7
