One would naturally think that the present depression in the labour market the Chinese would feel the pinch equally with the Europeans. Such does not seem to be the case. They are generally accused of down the price of labour, but from an incident which occurred the other day, they Eeem to bo as well paid as their European brethren. A gentleman last week offered one of them, a lad, £1 a week and found to perform some light employment. The Chinaman declined the ofier, as be said he never made less than £2, but sometimes as much as £3 10s a week at market gardening.
