assaulting a Chinaman.—Samuel Donaldson and Alfred weston, or "Happy." were charged with assaulting Gong Kee by throwing offensive matter into his shop in Wakofloldstreet on tho 27th February.—Mr Theo. Cooper in defence. Mr 8. Hesketh for the prosecution. Mr Thomas Quol and Ah Kew interpteted — Several Chlnamon gave evidence to the effect that Gone Kee had for some time been annoyed by the prisoners and a iaA named Jonos, employed In Messrs Garrett's boot factory, who were In tho habit of Insulting tho owner by throwing Btones and dirty things Into his shop. He recognised the two prisoners. — Mr Cooper said he would not attempt to disprove the fact that stones and rubbish wera thrown into Gong Kee's shop, but not by the defendant?.
