SERIOUS FIRE
(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., Jan. 4. A fire, shortly after midnight, gutted four shops, the property of Henry Doreen, in Main street west, and occupied by Gray (butcher), Ricketts (tobacconist), Wong Chung (fruiterer), and Joe Lee (laundry). The contents were destroyed, and the occupants are very heavy losers. The fire insurance on the four shops is £1000, on Rickett's stock £200, on Won Shung's stock £175.
