PROSECUTIONS AT RAETIHI.
At Raetihi a couple of days ago Inspector Golms, of Wanganui, proceeded against Wong Mong for having failed to close his store at six o'clock as required by the law. The defendant had a combined fruit and grocery store with a partition between, but, according to the inspector the wily Chinaman used to sell provisions over the fruitcounter when the other shop was closed Mr. Hewitt, S.M., imposed a fine of £5.
Mr Gohns, as Inspector of Weights and Measures, also proceeded against C. Kew for using incorrect scales. A fine of £5 was imposed in this case also.
