Since the accused was committed for trial by a I magistrate, she has been married to a Chinese laundryman. Fong Kui, who is the father of her children. Evidence was given that the children and the accused were found suffering from throat wounds, but recovered. Fong Kui said that, on Christmas Eve. he found a man drinking in the kitchen with the accused. The witness became angry and ordered the man off the premises. He poured the beer down the sink. He went out later and found that the accused and the children had their throats cut. The accused had always been good to him. looked after the children and kept the house clean. A constable said that the accused had told him that she and the children were better off dead, but that she did ! not make a good enough job of it. The jury found the accused guilty with a strong recommendation to mercy. The judge said that he entirely agreed with the recommendation.
