CHINESE KILLED. ARMED ROBBER'S CRIME .AUCKLAND. July l8.
Gasping tnat he had been shot three times, Joe Shem (aged 50 years), a Chinese, rushed out of his hut at the Ryeburn Diggings, Otago, collapsed, and died from his wounds. Prior to the murder a man had called at the hut demanding money, but Shem had none, One bullet entered his throat.
The diggings is in an isolated spot, and the murderer has not yet been arrest-

AUCKLAND, July 19.
Robbery has definitely-been established as the motive for- the murder of the Chinese Jo'Shum, In his hut at the Kyeburn gold diggings, Central Otago. A man, who is suspected of committing the crime, has been seen in Ranfurly, about 20 miles from the scene of the murder, and a big police net has been spread through the dis- trict to secure his apprehension.
