The body of a Chinaman named Lee Mon Sing was found hanging on Tuesday afternoon in a room in Wah Sing's store, in Stafford street. The deceased, who was a miner, 35 years of age, came from Gore on the previous day, on Tuesday afternoon about 3 o'clock he went out for a Bhort walk with his brother, Gum Sing, and after returning home he went to his room to have a sleep. About 4 o'clock Gum Sing went up to the room, and found his brother hanging from the ceiling. Dr Macdonald was vailed in as soon as possible afterwards, and endeavoured to restore animation, but his efforts did not prove successful. The case is evidently one of suicide.
