WAIKATO COLLISION
A TERRIFIC IMPACT CONDITION OF INJURED CHINESE IN SERIOUS STATE [fhom our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday Only one of the seven people who were involved in a head-on collision between two motor-cars on the Great South Road at Ngaruawahia last night is still in a serious condition in the Waikato Hospital, to which six people were admitted after the accident. He is Mr. Wong, fruiterer, of Queen Street, Auckland, the driver of one car, who suffered severe head injuries. His condition to-day was reported to be critical. Mr. Wong's wife, and Mr. Richard Hong, also a fruiterer, who lives with Mr. Wong in Auckland, both suffered head injuries and were in a serious condition last night, but to-day they were reported to be out of danger. These three Chinese were in a car being driven from Hamilton to Auckland. The fourth passenger, Miss Rand, of Auckland, who suffered a fractured leg, was also admitted to the Waikato Hospital. Her condition to-day was not serious.
Mr. Wong's car was proceeding northward when it came into collision with a three-seater car coming southward and driven by Mr. H. Dalrymple, service-car driver, of Rotorua. The impact was terrific, both vehicles being wrecked. The accident took place at about 9.30 p.m. Mr. Dalrymple suffered deep cuts ou his hand, necessitating the insertion of several stitches, and a cut above the eye. He was the only person involved in the accident not admitted to hospital, although ho was treated there. Two passengers in his car were admitted, the most serious being Mr. Thomas McHard.y, service-car driver, of Rotorua. who also received head injuries.
