One of the greatest books ever written, in my opinion, is "Americans & Chinese" by Francis L.K. Hsu (1909-1999), who was formerly Professor of Anthropology at Northwestern University. His life's work and scholarly research was put into a comprehensive comparison and contrast of traditional Chinese vs. American cultures. I accidentally found this book in 1981, and I ordered my own copy. My father found this book as fascinating as I did. I was once asked to teach a mini-course at Oakton Community College on this topic, which I called "The Chinese & American Experience: A Bridge Between Two Cultures." The course never ran, but I posted excerpts of Prof. Hsu's book: www.oakton.edu/user/4/billtong/chinaclass/hsu.htm
