FIRE IN HASTINGS.
FOUR SHOPS GUTTED [By Telegraph—Press Association.] HASTINGS, Tuesday
A fire occurred at 2.30 this morning, iv a Chinese restaurant in Main street, by Willie Wong, and spread adjoining premises of Little and Fairey (butchers), William Kirchner (confectionery), and Mrs Ingram (draper) . The flames had a good hold when the fire was discovered, and four shops were gutted, nothing being saved. The insurances are not available. The prompt action of Constable Connor saved the lives of Mr and Mrs Kirchner and two children who were sleeping in the- upstairs portion of the premises.
