Wellington, this day. A four roomed house in Manning street, occupied as a Chinese boarding-house and restaurant, was burned early this morning. One of the inmates, Chow Li, a gardener, was badly burned all over his body, the flesh being burned from his hands, legs and feet. He was taken to the hospital. His condition is considered hopeless. Joe Fall, keeper of the house, was injured by jumping from a window. Later. The Chinaman Chow Li died at 10.30 am Auckland Star, Volume XXVIII, Issue 158, 9 July 1897, Page 3

One of the inmates, Chow Li, a gardener, was badly burned all over his body, the flesh being burned from his hand, legs and foot. He was taken to the hospital, and died there.
