CHINESE IMMIGRATION ACT.
The amendment to the Chinese Immigration Act prevents a Chinaman entering New Zealand unless he can read a printed pas-sage of not less thin 100 words of "English. Masters of ships allowing Chinese to enter the country in defiance of this provision are madeliable to a penalty not exceeding £50.
