Cultural arrogance shames Sharples Newstalk ZB March 21, 2010, 6:54 pm The Maori Affairs Minister says he is shamed by the way Asian settlers are treated in New Zealand and by our country's cultural arrogance. Dr Pita Sharples has just delivered an address on Orakei Marae to mark Race Relations Day. He says New Zealanders tend to ignore, exclude and insult Asians. He is shamed at those admissions, but says the marginalisation of immigrants is an issue tangata whenua could address. Dr Sharples says a major event consummating the Asian contribution and acknowledging their presence would be a good project towards race relations. nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/6960668/cultural-arrogance-shames-sharples/
