Dr Digby Ngan Kee FRANZCOG, Director Endoscopy Manawatu
Dr Digby Ngan Kee was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He was educated at Hutt Valley High School before attending Auckand Medical School. He graduated MBChB in 1982. Dr Ngan Kee undertook training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Waikato Hospital and Wellington Hospital before completing his training in the United Kingdom.
He gained the MRCOG qualification in 1987 and the FRANZCOG qualification in 1989. It was during his time in the United Kingdom that he began his interest and training in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. Dr Ngan Kee returned to New Zealand in 1990 to take up a post as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Palmerston North Hospital, and in private Practice. He is married to Audrey, and has three teenage children
Endoscopic Surgery
Dr Ngan Kee has completed training in advanced Hysteroscopic and Laparoscopic surgery. He has lectured regularly at advanced minimal access training courses and has acted as a preceptor and tutor to many of his collegues in New Zealand. He has special interest in the treatment of endometriosis and infertility. Dr Ngan Kee is the Palmerston North representative of Fertility Associates New Zealand who are the lead providers of tertiary fertility treatment in this area.
Dr Ngan Kee was one of the first surgeons to carry out laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in New Zealand. More recent he has pioneered the techniques of laparoscopic tubal microsurgery and laparoscopic reversal of tubal ligation.
