DEATH IN TRAIN.
VETERAN OTAGO MISSIONARY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Rev. Alexander Don, a veteran missionary of the Presbyterian Church, died yesterday in a train in Otago Central when returning to Dunedin. Mr. Don, who was 77 years of age, had retired from active service. Born at Ballarat, he was educated at Victorian schools and Otago University. In his time he was farm hand, busli feller, foundry boy, miner and teacher. He became a missionary to Chinese in Otago and later was the originator of the Canton Village Mission, which was opened in 1001. He had been Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand, also secretary of the Foreign Missions Board. Auckland Star, Volume LXV, Issue 261, 3 November 1934, Page 10
