In addition to the donations recently [ made by the Chinese residents of the town to the local hospital, the secretary of the Hospital Board asks us to acknowledge with thanks, a very handsome donation of ,£lO from Kwong Chong, proprietor of the Aramoho market gardens. In order to show the value of this generosity it may be said that, with the Government subsidy, this represents .£22 to the Hospital funds.

A Wanganui newspaper is kicking up much dust over the discovery that big consignments of celery, cabbage, cauli- flowers, etc., have been forwarded to Hawke's Bay. Wellington, Auckland. Hawera, New Plymouth, and it is need- less to say that the consignors are Chinaman. There is, it appears, a very big business dono between tho Chinese of Aramoho and the important markets of the North Island, and it should af- ford considerable pleasure and gratifi- cation locally that the products of Ara- jnoho soil should be m such demand from practically all parts of the North Island. "It does afford considerable pleasure and gratification" to the Chow, but isn't there a European gardener somewhere who Is feeling very much ashamed?, NZ Truth , Issue 413, 24 May 1913, Page 6

Check out page 207 of the new book, Sons of the Soil. Ngan Sueng Fore came from Yuen Har, Po-on Yue.
