The Masterton Age informs its readers that already there are over 200 Chinese at Otaki, and that they are daily increasing ; further, that they are also on the increasein Levin. If tbe Age sought it's information from a reliable source, it would ascertain that Chinamen are becoming scarcer and scarcer in Otaki as the years roll on, and that, at the present tiimc very few Celestials are here. As for Levin ; Chinaman is scarcely seen.

It is stated that a large number of Chinese market gardens, now resident m Otaki, intend to quit their holdings at the earliest possible opportunity, they having lost money on vegetable growing for the past two seasons. The high rents, potato blight etc have reduced the takingsconsiderably. Oh well But hasn't a European boycott anything to do with it NZ Truth , Issue 243, 19 February 1910, Page 1
